First day out with the new Tamron 150-600mm lens, a very mixed bag. For semi-static subjects like this it can be quite sharp. Unfortunately it is frustratingly terrible on moving objects including BIFs, so it is going back to the store. There is also a known issue with poor servo performance on the 7D. This is sad because the build quality and feel-in-hand is excellent, and reaching 600mm for $1070 is a treat. If you never plan on shooting action, then I'd recommend it.

Here are a couple of birds that spend a lot of time in our garden. The robin wakes us, very early each day and the dunnock is one of a pair nesting in some honeysuckle in the garden. Both taken with a 7D+300/4+1.4x
