Problems with my Nikon Coolscan 9000 ED

Recommended Posts

I have been scanning my negatives without problems when, all of a sudden, with no settings changes, I started to receive this kind of results.
I rebooted the scanner and the computer, but nothing changed.
Thanks a lot for any kind of help!
This is the preview window:

@Charles
I've tried to turn off the scanner and its power for more than one hour and nothing changed. Actually, the preview image is even worse!...
@Robin & Glenn
I will try to download Vuescan and report on the results.
Thank you everybody!

There doesn't seem to be the option to turn them off... They are all set to 0 or unchecked and in the options panel it shows Neutral instead than OFF. I checked Preferences as well and there are no options to turn them off.

Download the trial version of Vuescan. It's free. Nikon doesn't support the scanner and software any longer. OS systems will continue to change so you can't go back. Vuescan was definitely worthwhile when I switched. Something's changed and you can eventually get back to the start but why?

It is definitely a problem with the scanner.
When I tried to calibrate it I received the hardware error message.
Since I doubt there is a service where I could send it to repair, all suggestions are more than appreciated. Thanks!
