LineMartel
The editor's pick section is not displaying correctly on Firefox 28.0
The images are displayed over the name of the photographer and the image title. Looks ok in ie, just thought I would let you know...
CharlesBecker-Toronto
I thought that I'd check and see and the problem was there but then everything snapped into place after a fraction of a second. I came out and went back in to Firefox and the same thing happened but it corrected itself more quickly the second time around. Works fine under Safari.
cb
carashilaire
Hi - trying to figure out what you are seeing and why. I don't see this in Chrome or Safari. I'll call in the tech troops!
Jeff Lear
Same problem I was having when I posted this back in early March. I'm still experiencing that problem. Win7 64-bit, Firefox v28.0. I'm seeing other formatting issues as well. For instance, the entry field I'm typing this response in extends into and partially obscures the operating system and AT&T smartphone advertising (powered by PriceGrabber) that I'm not supposed to be seeing as a subscriber ;)
Laura Weishaupt
I see the same display problem with Body, but did not check the others. I too see a featured equipment deal box ad on every page except my workspace even though I'm a subscriber. I'm using Foxfire 28.0. I see the same situation Jeff describes with the response box partially covering the popular articles box. I've also noticed that the featured equipment deals box partially blocks the guidelines box in weekly photo sharing forums, and the first few photos are pushed over to the left to make room for all the boxes. Do these boxes, featured equipment deals, popular articles, latest equipment, latest learning articles, need to be on every page? The scroll of articles seen below each photo in my gallery is less obtrusive.
carashilaire
Hello! Thanks, everyone! I never use Firefox and therefore wouldn't have known there was a problem (IE and Chrome here). I'll check Firefox formatting in the future. Anyway, figured out what was causing the problem and it was a very simple fix. Body and Snow should both look fine in Firefox.

As for the latest equipment articles/popular articles/etc. on the right sidebar -- they won't be there on the newly designed site. I agree - it can be busy and obtrusive, though I'm sure the original reasoning was to be sure people see what other articles and information exist on the site.

The AT&T smartphone advertising, though...I can't figure out what that is. I don't see it in Firefox or anywhere else. You are definitely logged in, right? I'll raise this issue next - as well as the featured deal box. Thanks again!
Laura Weishaupt
Thanks Cara. The featured equipment deal box powered by price grabber shows an array of products that are not photo related. As I write the box on this page is offering me a 60" TV, Windows 7, and yes there is a Canon printer. I too thought that as a subscriber I wouldn't see ads to this extent.

When I open a forum I see a "Most Popular Lens" box. However on each thread I open I see the "featured equipment dea"l box. I just saw one for a smart phone from verizon. Are subscribers supposed to get this much advertising for non photo related products?
Jeff Lear
Editors' Picks are fixed and now appear correctly. Thank you so much for jumping on this, Cara et al. I don't mind the sidebar although I liked it more when it was a little narrower.

I was being sarcastic about the ads, the little window doesn't really bother me. I imagine the explanation would be that unlike the regular ads a non-subscriber might see, these are "hand selected" by the wonderful folks at PN to appeal "to our target audience" by displaying only "relevant" items "salient" to this site's clientele. However, I'm not sure how 50 Sock Hop Event Invitations (yep, Sock Hop Invitations) or Microsoft Office Student and Home edition are of any more relevance to me as a photographer than they would be to say... a plumber or an astrophysicist or a beautician.
carashilaire
Right now, mine is featuring Windows Office, also not particularly related to photography. We're on it! Jeff - Sock Hop Invitations!?!?!? Thanks for the heads up, all.

I don't even know what that is! Perhaps Price Grabber was playing some sort of silly April Fools' joke.
