marklcooper
I went to a new local farmers' market this morning to drop off some flyers for our 100% grass fed beef (New Albany, Ohio).
I asked for, and got permission for, taking pictures of the booth that was willing to hand out flyers for our grass fed beef.
Whipped out my D300 with 17 - 55 f/2.8. Dead. Nada. Swapped batteries. Still dead.
What do you do when your camera refuses to fire?
I'm looking at eBay. Same, better, newer, ???
Plan ahead. I'm a hobbyist. A non-paying gig is coming up early November. Still, I made a commitment.

david_kaye
A competent repairman should be able to give you an estimate of cost to repair.

sarah_fox
It might be dead. It might not. You should also rule out the lens and the card. A short in either can drag down the system voltage and prevent the camera from powering up. You could also have two dead batteries. As weird and unlikely as that might sound, it's happened to me -- THREE batteries, in fact. The reason? The same malfunctioning battery charger ruined all three batteries.
