warren_williams
I recently purchased a K4/50. The viewing mirror is in ok condition but the auxiliary mirror in the focusing hood for eye level focusing is badly deteriorated. I assume these are as hard to get as the viewing mirrors - does anyone have any idea where I might get one?
paul_wheatland
first surface mirrors are readily available from thrift shop polaroids, the ones that use SX70 and 600 film types. Removing them from the camera, cutting to size and reinstalling in your camera may prove to be a challenge. These mirrors also replace TLR mirrors with similar issues.
marc_batters
It may be easier, and cheaper, to procure inexpensive 'new' replacement mirror stock,
rather then cannibalizing from old used equipment.

From a previous thread here on P-Net.
http://www.photo.net/medium-format-photography-forum/00bhog
*Bay link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ciro-Flex-Replacement-Mirror-TLR-Model-B-C-D-E-F-/261248992774?
Seller's *Bay auction-handle: marty1107

Marc

thirteenthumbs
When replacing focusing mirrors in any camera or rangefinder the front surface of the replacement mirror must be at the same position as the original. Newer materials are thinner than older ones. Put shims between the mirror and its mount frame. Card stock makes good shims.
q.g._de_bakker
Indeed. But this mirror is used to be able to see the focussing screen, and its position doesn't affect the sharpness of the image projected on that screen.
warren_williams
Charles
I don't believe this is true with the mirror in the hood since the image has already been formed on the ground glass. The thickness or position shouldn't make a difference since you are using the mirror to view the formed image.
