Lou_Meluso
A wonderful interview. Jay was one of my early influences in photography. I got to meet him five years ago in New York at a trade show where he signed one of his prints for me at the Epson booth. LINK
cyanatic
Thanks, Louis. Interesting and inspiring. The joy of seeing...etc. And his place in Manhattan! Wow. How great to have all that space for one's photography. We won't talk about his comment regarding film... ;-)

cyanatic
Thought I would add to my comments. Just saying "inspiring" doesn't mean much. Inspiring specifically because of his comment regarding going out and shooting and having no agenda. Something I've actually been thinking a lot about lately, partly inspired by reading and looking at the work of fellow Pnet members. I think I limit myself too much by going out and photographing certain things in a certain way, striving for a certain look. It doesn't take Jay Maisel to tell me to not have an agenda, to look at all that is around me, but watching his interview came at a good time.

AlanKlein
He said it all boils down to "light, gesture and color.... It doesn't matter what's the content."
Flickr gallery: https://www.flickr.com/photos/alanklein2000/albums
leslie_cheung
Good point, Alan. That was the other main juice of the interview imo.
roy_hale1
Kelby Training has several 'classes' with Jay that are very similar to this video basically just long interviews with Jay on the streets of New York and Paris. If you really like this short video the Kelby Training videos are worth a one month subscription to view.
