Rates for commercial photography

Here in Europe the business of photography is a touch business. Rates for portraits, typical 'family & dog portraits', weddings etc. are quite low. Just out of curiosity, how much do commercial photographers in the US charge for such work?

<p>I think your question is too broad to respond to in any meaningful manner. There are lots of different kinds of "commercial photography" ranging from low-paid event and product photography to high-paid fashion event and fashion product photography.</p>

<p>I think the situation is probably similar here to there; a few photographers who are great marketers are making lots of money, some more are making adequate money, and many, many are struggling to make ends meet.</p>

<p>I'm in the latter category.</p>
