I've been trying to photograph the birds on my feeders. But somehow they disapear as soon as i point the camara. Here's a feeble attemt from inside the house. Looks like they wait till that anoying guy with the camera has left for work..
I will keep trying..

Jake H - Super snow scenes; Phil R - another great take on the ash-throated flycatcher against a creamy BG; Mark K - Nice B&W, BTW I had lots of trouble with timeouts and Gateway errors using IE9 - I switched to Chrome and it works faster and every time.
Not shot anything much this week, so here is a pic of a Galapagos Hawk (Isabela Island) with a trace of breakfast on its beak.
7D / EF100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM at 310mm; 1/640s @ F/5.6 ISO 800.

00bFNj-514391584.jpg.fa66be13dfa99e19fc59b059ff7bc205.jpg

Thank you Rick and Mark for the nice words. No, Mark, no new lens. I rented the 600 one time for a couple of days. Took it to a couple of local places and also tried the moon. Love the results, but it slows me down. I handheld it (except for the moon), which is my preferred style, and at almost 12 pounds, it got a little heavy after a while.

First we had popcorn snow then the following day had some lake effect snow which brought us the beautiful snowflakes. It made me realize how nice it would be to have a good macro lens as these took a lot of sharpening. 7D with extension tubes and my old Olympus 75-150 zoom.

00bFRY-514447584.jpg.71c47227c98d06c1330b6d3a6178b929.jpg

Using the instructions on Strobist I built my own light tent out of an old carboard box, some tracing paper, and some posterboard for the backdrop. I have only had time for a couple of quick test shots. Here's a portrait of a Lego minifigure.
