Essex Camera out of business

<p>UPS just returned my camera, with the notice that Essex Camera Inc is out of business. Not a word about this on the website. I can understand being impacted by the hurricane, etc, but geez take the ten minutes to update the site with a notice!</p>

<p>My Canon iv-f needs new cloth shutters. Does anyone have a recommendation? I'm in NYC, but I can ship it too. Thanks all.</p>

<p>Essex Camera was wiped out in hurricane Sandy. It was noted on another forum. This is sad because they repaired a large range of cameras. You might contact KEH. I have used KEH for CLAs.</p>

that poster mentioned wet cameras set on the sidewalk to dry.<br>

the possible liability could be huge.<br>

the owner may have to start another business. hopefully on higher ground,</p>

<p>Wow, I hate to hear that. I've had a number of cameras repaired by them and they did an excellent job. Hope they can get back in business.</p>

<p>After not getting a response from them via email or phone calls, I sent my Vittessa to Kurts camera repair in San Diego. Couple of weeks later I got a response from Essex with a quote for repair. This was back in the middle of December. For what it's worth Kurts did a good job on my camera, and were easy to deal with.</p>
