Massimo, with all that exhaust behind them perhaps they would have been better camouflaged if painted white, eh? :)

Well, that tank is over 40 years old and it's diesel engine is based on a design from the thirties...
All those soviet tanks also had a simple device that inject diesel fuel on the exhaust, this was a cheap and easy way to generate artificial smoke. Pretty often on such occasions the drivers activate this features, so it's hard to tell how much the smoke is intentional or not :-)

Dennis, thanks for the comments. Mark, yes, I too would recommend working out to better handhold the 600mm lens!

Nathan, as you can tell from the lack of response, you picked a very tough one for your quiz this week! This one is not on my life list so I'm on shakey ground here. I went thru Sibleys and National Geographic. Also Whatbird. Best I can come up with is to confirm the Vesper Sparrow as a juvenile. Eye ring is distinctive, notched tail with white outer feathers holds, black streaks on body, two white wing bars. The white outer tail feathers is a key identifier. I found a site that said the juvenile was similar to the adult but "buffer." In this case the head doesn't have the markings of an adult Vesper, except for the eye ring, but you could say it is "buffer." Can't find any Google Images to support it though. If you want to put it on your life list, I would submit it to one of the online bird ID sites.

More foggy from me. I feel that way anyway. Especially so!
Wish I had some cake, or were surfing, or a beautiful backyard sunrise... Thanks for those!

Some sensational shots this week. Going back to the low-angle volleyball shot, sometimes you can't pick your angle. When we went to the Beach Volleyball at the Olympics, we were way up in the stands - AND everything you took in with you had to fit in a 30 x 20 x 20 cm box, so the idea of bringing along my FD 500mm f4.5L never got off the ground. Instead I picked up a 1.4x III before we went, adding it to my 70-200mm f2.8 L II. Here's a sample of the results (cropped of course). (If you like it, there are some more here).

Great stuff as usual from everyone.
Robert, I usually sit or kneel for my sports photography, but actually placed the camera on the floor to get even lower. Took some practice to know when I was holding it at the correct angle.
James, cool stuff. I actually went up into the stands higher for a bit and got some shots that I was pleased with.
