I've got nothing so it's back to the Washington trip. Fortunate to get this shot of a crop duster pilot, one of the most dangerous jobs there is. I grabbed this one fast, so the settings are pretty goofy. It was late morning and the brightness on the wing had to be brought down quite a bit. It's amazing how hard these guys work, they can barely waste a minute.

I spotted this spread-winged damselfly in the evening and was able to get some pictures the next morning before it had warmed up enough for it to fly away.

Lupo, that's funny. These are quite common over in Louisiana also. One day we didn't even get out of the car, but just opened the door every 50 ft or so and picked a grocery bags worth. It felt like cheating. Up here I'm fortunate to find them at all. When our kids were little they loved kicking spent puff balls and the resulting green cloud of spores.

Lupo, thanks much for the indirect compliment but you still might not like the 180mm macro. I only shoot it from a tripod (no IS) or when I can get sufficiently high shutter speeds. I typically take it with me if I know my subjects are skittish and I need a bit more distance between the lens and the shy ones. It is a nicely behaved lens, good and sharp, and feels pretty balanced on my 7D. I much prefer the 100mm L for most macro range subjects.

Ken Papai, it's never too late for beer! Love the shape of that glass.
