Great group of pictures this week. Sorry about the Bald Eagle opportunity Nathan, but the Kingfisher turned out quite good for a BIF.

I was fortunate to come home to find this young one dining in my front yard. It let me go into the house, grab my camera, and return without flying off. If I had known it was going to be so patient, I would have switched lenses.

A juvenile Red-Tailed Hawk dining on the remains of a Scrub Jay in the shade (unfortunately) of a mulberry tree. ISO 1600 is just too much for the 50D, IMHO. The question will be, 7D, 5DmkII (used), or the new 6D?

I attended a BBQ / grilling cooking class last Saturday -- and no, Lupo was teaching! ;-)
Anyway we learned a lot about pork shoulders/Boston Butts, spare ribs, NY steaks, whole chickens, and albacore tuna. Lots of protein for to snack on the entire, long class. It can get really technical and a lot about smoking was "learned" to us.
Here is one photo, some ribs ready, after being smoked for over 3 hrs.
EOS 7D, 24mm, ISO 800, f/4.5.

00aqNU-497209584.jpg.9ababaa9ea21f91023733ea5a2dd45d3.jpg

Hello all to the Canon Thursday Photo 2012 #38!
This is my first posting to this Forum!
The Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus) Yesterday (Thursday 20th September 2012) I almost by accident came close to this gull but I did only have my Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L on my full frame 5DMK2. So I did slowly approach this gull and was able to capture this photo while its chicken was approaching and begging for some food! From color originally converted to black and white.
Place: Evert Taubes Terass, Stockholm City, Sweden about 5:40P.M. yesterday.
Wishing you all happy shoots!
Charl

00aqWp-497267584.jpg.f41378ecbe347d7888760546cf9ac30e.jpg
