tara_ratliff
I ordered Lightroom 4, and I was told I could edit a tif file from a scanned negative in Lightroom 4. However, when I tried to open it up in Lightroom, nothing happened. Does anyone know how to open a tif file into Lightroom 4?

Spearhead
It sounds like you need a Lightroom tutorial. You don't "open" files in Lightroom, As Alan said, you "import" them. This is a really important concept. I highly recommend buying Victoria Bampton's Lightroom book, it's the best I've found.
Music and Portraits Blog: Life in Portugal
mark_sirota1
There are some TIFF formats that Lightroom cannot read. It needs to be an RGB file, for example. If you have a monochrome scan, LR can't handle that; you need to convert it to RGB first.

hoshisato
Indeed, Lightroom handles monochrome TIFF files just fine and as of Lightroom 4.1, it now can also handle 32 bit HDR TIFF files.
