We're getting these colorful characters here in Florida just about every afternoon. The rainy season is upon us and we are already into two named tropical storms before hurricane season even starts.
This image was shot through a second story window as this lightining was a bit close.

00aRoE-470651584.jpg.28d4ea823c4a39401906f413ae460a2d.jpg

I am LOVING my new D700! I'm using my 50 1.4 lens a lot and loving it wide open. (I never used it on my D70, just didn't like the crop factor so it's been sitting in the bag for a few years...)(Although this shot probably doesn't show it best wide open, but still...I'm loving it!)

00aRp5-470663584.jpg.48e8f82a5187d3372682c4ff1ac3acaf.jpg

Happy Wednesday everyone! Great pictures. The ones that really stand out for me are:
Martin's guitar
John F's landscape
Kent's portrait of Daphne
Chris Court's long jumper
and Janne's leaf in the park

It's been really hot here in the UK and at the weekend we hit the beach. Here's a snap of Merlin our black lab having a drink after a long swim in the sea. The background isn't great and the contrast isn't fully under control, but I still like it none-the-less :-)

No fine feathered friends this week, but was in Marco Island two weeks ago and was fortunate to see several nesting pairs of Ospreys. Moving pontoon boat, waves rocking, sheesh... it was tough to get anything in focus and without blur but managed a few. Tough lighting too. My D200 was gasping for air trying to keep up.

00aRv5-470783584.jpg.05e828917c4b0105c4ad1040c0ca272f.jpg

Haven't even picked up my D2H in months but needed to for an assignment. It's not ideal for "studio" stuff due to excessive near-IR sensitivity, which makes most black backdrops magenta or brownish. But judicious retouching in Lightroom 4 restored the black background properly.

00aRyf-470823584.jpg.6335f4c18706ea795f836dda528cd6cc.jpg
