25 sec. to load a forum category page & New Responses.

<p>Agree Tim. Lately I've been getting a lot of "Waiting for Photo.net...." messages on the status bar. I am using hi-speed cable (54 MBps), wireless router, and Firefox 11.0. Sometimes it takes up to a minute to load a forum category page, but as you say, sometimes it's very quick. I'm wondering what causes this also.</p>

<p>yes the site, while never a speedmonster for all sort of reasons is very sluggish. I'm on an even faster connection than you Dennis, i.c. 120Mbs, and can get a coffee between loading pages. </p>

<p>I tried going in and turning back on Java applets (the latest mac Java updates turn it off), but no luck there either.</p>

<p>As you can see, Jin and the rest of the backend guys are on it and hope to have things fixed soon. There will be some downtime today however. No estimate on how long.</p>

<p>No better for me. Still takes at least a minute for all the forum index pages to load. Sometimes a bit longer. Used to be pretty instantaneous. I'm talking about this page, for instance:</p>

<p>I just checked with Firefox 11.x and Chrome - similar results with both. The slowdown does seem to be limited to specific places. So far only the forum home page and new responses - as Tim described - seem to be affected. Each is taking 20-30 seconds to load - I'm on relatively slowish DSL, 6 MBps, but this doesn't appear to be a factor. I'm not seeing any significant problems via the unified forum view.</p>

<p>I'm in the UK less than 2 miles from ' phone exchange . I get " up to " 20mbs and often get Timed out , especially on comments follow up . Firefox is always slow to load . I just have to live with it !</p>

<p>As well as the slow speed I have been getting the same page/set of images on the critique forum, the page isn't reloading and has now been going on for 24 hours. I guess this is a server issue, maybe a short message on the homepage explaing any issues would help.</p>

Loading a top-level forum page of discussion threads takes 30 seconds here.

<p>Very slow here also. Worse than my way-back dialup! I'm on a high-speed cable connection and the rest of my forums load normally, but photo.net has slowed to a crawl. Been that way for over 24 hours now.</p>

<p>UPDATE: Forums are taking from 31.1 to 31.6 seconds to open. Once open, the threads are now opening instantaneously. Makes no difference if the forum has just been opened, then closed. To reopen is still 31 seconds.</p>

<p>I've restarted a few things, please let me know if it seems to have helped matters. It seems to have improved things for me.<br>

<p>I've noticed no significant slowdown of any kind anywhere on the site w/FF 11.0. In fact, since I upgraded my router on Friday, the site's been zipping right along. Makes my head spin.</p>
