Just got back from our Summer holiday a few days ago. We started in the mountains in the Eastern Cape Province (South Africa).
wI hate power lines which seem to crop up everywhere. Walking past these would have missed the gate, involved some serious scrambling up and down rocks and got us caught in quite a storm.

From here on to the Wild Coast around the south eastern corner of Africa.
More storms
And some very pretty sunsets
A photographic highlight for me was cattle coming onto the beach.

Happy New Year Folks.
I have a few images from my trip last week to Central California. The first one was taken with the 600mm f5.6 A. I have no real idea what duck species this is, if anyone has any idea.

The next image was a Burrowing Owl. The image is cropped and the photo was taken with the 600mm f5.6 A +1.4X-L teleconvertor.

Finally this last image was taken of a California Slender Salamander at Big Basin Redwood State Park.

I gathered up a few friends from our local photo club on Saturday and we went out to Anza Borrego Desert State Park in eastern San Diego County for some off-road exploring with lots of stops for photos.

I've got so many shots of 17 Palms Oasis with blue sky in the background that I thought I would try something different this time. K-7, DA 16-45, in camera monochrome with "infrared" filter effect.

The State Park area was very quiet - the people who were camping weren't moving much, and we were in some areas that don't get a lot of traffic anyway. At one point we decided to head over to the OHV area that butts up against the State Park. It was a whole different world at an area called the Pumpkin Patch. Lots of dust, lots of noise, and what looked like a whole lot of fun. I have to remind myself that, as much fun as the quads look, the last thing I need is another expensive hobby that needs a lot of storage space. The in-camera b/w with infrared filter does produce a fairly grainy looking image, no matter what ISO, but in this case a lot of what you're seeing is sand and dust in the air. K-7, DA 16-45.

The last shot on the last trail on the last day of the year. K-7, DA 16-45.

Happy new year everyone! Wonderful photos so far this week!

We're still waiting for any significant snow, making the most of what we have. We have ice. Lots and lots of ice. Still on a bit of a mono kick.
K-x & da15
<a title="IMGP8379.jpg by MattB.net, on Flickr" href=" IMGP8379.jpg src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7170/6617555873_f9f6657d57_z.jpg" alt="IMGP8379.jpg" width="640" height="425" />
