thakurdalipsingh
Friends
(I am reposting it here because many people did not see my previous post. Pl dont mind)
I have just tried it works. I got this info from irphotocom.
Nik Efex pro 3.0 Standalone is available absolutely free. The offer is from NIK itself and it’s only good till the 4th (Sunday )so get it while it’s hot.

Its from Germany so the download page is in German however when installed it gives you the option of German or English (British English at that!)

I just downloaded and installed it and it works great

Here's the URL:

http://www.chip.de/downloads/Nik-Color-Efex-Pro-3-Vollversion_52268284.html

They require your email and they immediately send you a confirmation email (in German)

(Just fill in the email slot in the download page. There is another slot below that asking for win/Mac. Select it.)

When you install it they ask for your email again for confirmation and a product key.

The product key is in the email they send you, it’s the string following the word “Produktschluesse”

Just copy and paste it.

When you install it just play with it. You can get very subtle or really wild.

Remember . . the offer's only good till Sunday! May be Monday also.

iqbal
Your heading is INcomplete. One should make a distinction between Silver Efex (specifically for the B&W and the latest is v.2) and Color Efex (the latest is v.4).
GBarrington
I downloaded & thanks for the "heads up". While I intend to investigate further, from my initial playing with the program, I suspect that Lightroom will do essentially the same thing. That being said, it does offer a lot for free. Non LR users may find it more useful than those who use LR.

I'm having some trouble reading the text in the UI. The black background and the tiny gray text are playing rough with my aging eyes. Also, the "settings" tab seems astonishingly truncated. There isn't much the user can modify in the UI. I wonder if this is a 'special edition' designed to boost sales? I find it hard to believe that modern UI design standards would be ignored in a modern product.

My "gut" feeling? A good useful product, but not an outstanding state of the art software title.
mukul_dube
I've no idea if it's good or not good. I installed it and put in the registration code -- but it keeps saying "Could not open file." I too have ageing eyes, so perhaps I couldn't use it even if it did work.
GBarrington
Mukul,
Try uninstalling it and then re-installing it. It installed fine on my 64 bit Vista Desktop, but I've been involved in trouble shooting this sort of thing often enough to know that a bad install is far more common than Microsoft likes to acknowledge!
Gup
Thanks, Thakurdalip. I downloaded it effortlessly. I do love free stuff. I actually have some NIK filters I received with my Epson printer, too, sometime back. It is quality software.

anthony_goulart
When I tried to purchase on line "Silver Efex Pro 2", it said discontinued. And then I noticed that all Nik products have also been discontinued. Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks
