Here we go again, two passings of obvious note this week, Steve Jobs and Bert Jansch former Pentangle guitarist who created a whole lifetime of great music. Both died on the same day. In a way, these two represented two different though not necessarily opposed "loci" of the "new age" ushered in in the 60's and both have affected people in different yet profound ways. So why not post a photo this week of something or someone that has effected your pathway in life? Or you can just post your single favorite pic of the week. I'll start off with a pic of my good buddy Seamus Egan. I just photographed his wedding a few weeks ago. Seamus is one of the great Irish Trad Banjo players on the planet. I'm showing this pic because my involvement in Irish music was a big development in my life starting in the 80's and that involvement led me into many life long friends and a community that is more than just the music. Egan is one of those real characters and we've had a lot of great craic over the years and we always keep in touch though we now live in different cities. this was taken about 3:30 - 4:00 am after a night of music and carry on. He wasn't so happy when I bounced a Vivatar 283 flash off the ceiling when he just wanted to crash.

Seeing as we're being sentimental, this is the only recent pic of my old man and me that I have (and I've posted this previously). He's 75, his knees are knackered, but mention a mountain and he's up there like a goat (although you can see the pain in his eyes).

On another note... One of my photos has made it to the final stage of the “Canon Professional Network” competition. Thirty have been selected from several thousand, so I’m more than happy and don’t expect to win (there are some amazing images).

Most of the images are from professionals, and the final stage is an online public vote. I’m sure the professionals will have their PR machines poised to attract votes, but this post is the beginning and end of my campaign.

If you have a moment, can you click on the following link...

http://cpn.canon-europe.com/content/yourspace/editors_choice/movement/selection.do

...and possibly tickle the ‘vote’ button above image number 29 (the square b/w shot of a windsurfer in flight), it would be much appreciated, and could possibly save me the embarrassment of coming last. I have until Thursday 13th Oct to attract votes.

Thanks in advance

Steve

PS: You can vote for any number of images, but you can’t vote more than once for any single image (I’ve tried!!!)

Best of luck, Steve!
After a 15 months pause - trouble with the skin on my hands and constantly unhappy with the results - I began b&w-developing again.
Here's the very first picture (testshot) from a recently purchased Fujica GL690. At least the camera is working fine...
