mountainvisions
What do you do when your human companions bail because the weather calls for rain, rain, more rain, and the magnificent views are gone!

Well of course you hike anyway. It's precisely why trail dogs were created. To equalize the forces of human fickleness with the primal desire to just do stuff.
<a title="A soggy Colvin doing what trail dogs do by Mountain Visions, on Flickr" href=" title="A soggy Colvin doing what trail dogs do by Mountain Visions, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6139/5969119392_e0be3e662f.jpg" alt="A soggy Colvin doing what trail dogs do" width="500" height="375" />
TL500, ISO 80.

I will say, however, that the humans made a good call. This was the best view to be had that day; staring down at my boots as I hiked in the rain and wind, trying to stay warm.

This was perhaps -debatably- the best of several attempts at having something memorable from this hike. I put my Samsung TL500 on an Ultrapod II pocket tripod, and set the self timer. All I had to do was time the shot right. Easier said than done.

As far as keeping the TL500 dry, I put my hat brim over the camera (after squeegeeing the excess water from the brim) . This provided enough cover to work without stressing over the cameras lack of weather sealing.

I guess the question is, when you have a 6 mile hike in the rain, do you find it quite as easy to amuse yourself mid hike? Or do I amuse myself much too easily?
<a title="Running out of Spring by Mountain Visions, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6010/5969120166_9ba35ed591.jpg" alt="Running out of Spring" width="500" height="375" />
Samsung TL500, ISO 80. jeremy_corbin
I'll contribute this week. I've been doing a lot a lot a lot of personal work lately.

One thing that I've been trying to do is get the shots I want without getting kicked off of the location before I get look finished. Sometimes I'm successful, and other times I have friendly security guards escorting me from the premises. I usually don't feel too bad though: If they're location wasn't so perfect I wouldn't be shooting there.

In any case, there are some lovely geometrically shaped fountains in downtown Denver right off of the mall. They're awesome. If you have 5 minutes to duck down there, they're off Lawrence and 17th. Oh... and No Wading.

htarragon
This past Wednesday, having to move my car for Alternate Side of the Street Parking (a NYC traditional street dance with cars, to allow street cleaning on one side of a street either 1, 2 or 3 times a week, depending on the borough and neighborhood you live in), I took refuge at Wave Hill. Refuge was not quite the situation, however, since Alternate side in my neighborhood lasts from 11:30AM -1:00 PM and the temperature was at least 90° and humid. The upside was there was no lack of light.

First

shots worth sharing
A mixed bag from yesterday:
Back in the day, I got an allowance of $.10. I'd spend $.05 on trolley fare to "The Junction" buy a candy bar with the other $.05 and walk home. That may have been a tip-off to the lba which afflicts me in my maturity ;~)
Walbrook Junction: Past & Present
[Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 @28mm: 1/4000s, f5.6, ISO 250]

I discovered I'd unintentionally taken the A*200 macro with me when I went to pick up Clara at the train station.
[1/320s, f6.3, ISO 250]

At the Train Station [Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 @75mm: 1/500s, f6.3, ISO 250]
