It's April in Texas, and that means bluebonnets. I think this is my favorite time of year.

Nicolaie, I'm also attracted to your sheep picture. I think it's the connection between the sheep and the photographer.

00YWRr-345745584.jpg.7e76de7b97a0d0bfe2a86bcd1434e912.jpg

A statue to the catalan writer Jacinto Verdaguer, at his hermitage up in the mountains, close to Besalú, Spain, while the mist was rolling in under him, which we would encounter on the way down to the village, almost a one hour descent.
D90 with Tamron 17-50 f/2.8

Greg Kowalczewski Matt Laur also noticed that the original thread title was incorrect as we are in the week 14 cycle for 2011. I have fixed the subject.

Speaking of Matt, he has been starting these weekly threads for a year and 3+ months now. So far he hasn't even missed it once; every week he is right on time. I am not sure that I can be that precise week after week. Thank you Matt.

John P.: yes, this is the time for humming birds here in California. I am going to the Bayland Refuge in Palo Alto twice a week this month. Once the flowers are gone by mid to late April, the images won't be as interesting any more. Doug has a very nice one also, but I appreciate his church photography even more.

So happy with the springsun!
Wanted to try something new for me: sports/action photography...
No car or biketrack in the neighbourhood, only a horseracetrack... So: took the D2H and 180mm/2.8 and had a nice day shooting and learning :-)

00YWWJ-345791584.jpg.13a1f4ce0c2857d48a31f29cd4f9f9b9.jpg

So many great pictures this week. The sun must be out!
A few of the many I enjoyed looking at:
Rene's earthquake benefit event - not only a great photo, but the circumstances are very moving.
Ole Ronny's picture of the empty factory building - great first post; lovely light
Doug's hummingbird - fabulous technique
Kent's "shrubbery" - I just like it!
Elliot's dog picture. I think I own a black labrapanther ;-)
Phil B's storm picture - wonderfully atmospheric, and the worth getting wet for.

This week it was Mothering Sunday in the UK. Not sure if its the same elsewhere in the world. After treating Mum to breakfast in bed we went for a walk along the seafront and encountered this chap with his two sheepdogs. They were utterly transfixed by the ball he had under his foot!

00YWWT-345797584.jpg.369f7fa956027096207f857424132104.jpg

It has been a while since I posted, this is one of the first flowers on the garden at my new place, unfortunately here I don't have many interesting things to photograph at as I did before. Nikon D80 kit lens 18-135mm @135mm

Lots of great work as always. So many flying dogs!
This weekend is the annual Strawberry Festival. Everything is in the process of being set up. Right now all is quiet, but this weekend I will be trapped. I may be able to leave town, but traffic is so bad I can't get back home. Hope to have some fun festival pics next week.

00YWYz-345821584.jpg.9f2f7be333fd0ab1a0facde8741a4bb8.jpg

Here's what caught my attention this week.
James Kazan serene timeless b/w of snow scene
John DiLeo plantation picture
Martin Z. very nice environmental portrait
Tony Kukulich, nice abstract that I could see hanging on a
wall somewhere large
Nicolaie Costel, Matt's on the money this looks like
something from a animated movie they are so well posed. I can picture them
talking to you.

Doug Santo, very nice hummingbird with complementary colors
in background, nice
Ole Ronny Johansen, very nice pictoral, I can feel the
textures.

Phil Burt, nice storm image, it really does remind me
of those midwest storms near tornados.
Some great images again this week.

Hello everyone. This is my first time posting in the weekly picture thread. I've been shooting Nikons for many years, but only digitally for the last month or so. Here's a shot from a trip to the San Diego Zoo this past Saturday. D7000, 80-200 AF-D at 80, 1/500 sec. at f/5.0, ISO 500.

Thanks to Bill Boyd for inviting me to this thread! I'm off of work on Fridays, and I've been stuck at home every Friday for the last few months trying to get my house ready to sell. This last Friday though I decided to spend the day at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens and practice my manual exposure skills with my new lens...
