purplealien
Hi everyone. Peter, so sorry to hear of your loss.

The pics that really caught my eye this week were:
Scott's bike shot - worth the pain!
Anish's picture of Venice - very atmospheric
Michael's portrait of his son
Jeannean's spider picture - wonderful composition. The yellow flower in the background really makes the shot.
Nicolaie's picture of the sky - beautiful colours

Spring seems to have arrived this week in the UK :-)
On Saturday we took 10 five year olds to a childrens farm/petting zoo to celebrate my youngest daughter's birthday. After the celebration I sneeked off and took a few pics of the animals, including this one of a pig with his friends....

tom_howd
Thanks to those who have commented on the bald eagle captures. Obviously a little patience and planning and a lot of luck are involved when photographing wild eagles, which are not subject to the photographer's control. I have received several questions about photographing bald eagles and am always glad to answer any questions about photographing the wild eagles. The Midwest offers some very good opportunities for photographing these impressive raptors.

I have enjoyed looking through each and everyone of the Wednesday Nikon image posts this week from buildings to birds, from people to pets, from action shots to still lifes.

Tom
tom_schonhoff
Tom,
Just before the tsunami I was in Japan shooting eagles in two places on Hokkaido. On the pack ice outside the harbor in Rausu you get white-tailed eagles and the massive Steller's sea eagles. Near the red-crowned crane sanctuary areas you get the same, mostly white-tails. In both places there are some feedings taking place that result in pretty spectacular interactions and close fly-bys. We struggled a bit with insane amounts of ice but even as things are I'd rush back to do it again.

finimage
Hi a bit late this week,
As usual stunning images...Particular liking the Moon shots, sadly I missed seeing the Perigee moon as it was shrouded in storm clouds. The Isle of Skye this past week has been hammered by high winds. I had made tracks over there to try and catch my Brother who was on the final stages of his 313mile Kayak trip in aid of Charity (http://westcoastkayakchallenge.co.uk/)
This is from his shortest days paddle, in high winds, getting his Kayak to a safe spot before another day was lost to gale force winds.

D40X (50-500mm F/4-6.3G) 500mm, F/6.3@ 1/250s, ISO 400

hamish_gray
Late due to a very busy week...

This was taken today (Thursday) in our back yard. We have been having blizzards and storm-force winds that have practically blown all the snow off the fields around our house and created 1-2 meter snow drifts in other places.
For a few minutes this afternoon the sun almost made it through the clouds.
