eman_a
Hi all!
I recently took 3 rolls of color negative film to be developed and when i got it back all i can say is SHOCK!!! HORROR!! first off they were cut into sixes, which is fine, but the ends were sloppy and they actually cut INTO the frame. Secondly, they are scratched. Thirdly, its full of dust!
I am totally infuriated by their carelessness. It was the first time I used them and the guy totally convinced me they were the one!
Anyways, my question is what would be the best and safest way to clean my negatives. Can i rewash with a bit of photo flo?
I've attached a picture so you guys can get an idea altho its not the most severe of them all. There is also a straight thin purple line running through all the frames, would that be the fix?

Thank you in advance for all your help!

john_shriver
Is that your scan, or theirs. The horizontal line could be a scratch on the negative (from their lousy processing), or it could be a stuck pixel in their film scanner.
There are several brands of film cleaner available.
Don't wash them in water, as you will need to re-stabilize them to prevent color fading and bio-growth.

keirst
A water soak also sometimes does wonders. Some grime simply won’t come off with organic solvent based cleaners like PEC 12, but will wash off. Use good distilled or deionized water or at least stuff filtered through a Brita pitcher.
