Kittens!

<p>Well, so this scrawny kitten started hanging out in our yard a while back. Perhaps predictably, one thing led to another and we eventually decided to take it in (desipte the reservations of our pre-existing cat, Skuchee) and named it Mitzvah. </p>

<p>So I took it to the vet who advised that it was an undernourished but otherwise healthy female and (surprise!) <em>pregnant</em> and due in a couple of weeks. As you can imagine, that was a bit more than we bargained for but, hey, we couldn't just boot a pregnant cat. </p>

<p>The ensuing adventure has pretty much preoccupied the household. I made her a pen of sorts in the living room and, although I managed to get her into the pen at the critical moment, she headed for the litter box in instead of the nice birthing cubby I'd set up for her and had the litter (of five) there--cats can be so<em> literal</em>!</p>

<p>Photography was pretty much impossible for the first couple of weeks and I was wary of pushing too much light into the kittens developing eyes but conditions are improving as they start to emerge from the "cave' and explore their surroundings.</p>

<p>@ Howard: Mitz thinks Princess regards the kittens as h'ors d'oeuvres but Princess has been positively (and characteristically) angelic through this whole process: Skuchee, on the other hand.... </p>
