<p>- Yes, this is TRUE on FX cameras when lens is in the DX mode. There is no reason to use crop DX mode on FX camera with FX lenses, even if the 5 MP cropped pictures are good, no extra reach here.</p>

<p>- NOT exactly true. On Dx cameras, the sensor greater pixels density provides magnification, or reach.</p>

<p>Even though the 200 mm lens will not get mysteriously a 300 mm lens when placed on a DX camera, but the combination of the DX camera sensor magnification, and the 200mm lens will give together the greater reach of a 300 mm lens.</p>

<p>That is why wildfile photographers get recommendations to use a DX crop cameras, for practical reasons, and not only for the economics.</p>
