lance_lee4
Hi everyone,
just curious, among the famous and successful photographers that we know (internationally), how many got into photographer because their parents were photographers too.

In the movie business, it's common for sons and daughters especially to inherit their fathers' passions. example, Sofia Coppola and Francis Ford Coppola.

Not necessarily a famous father (or mother) that grooms a successful photographer child, it could be just a poor struggling dad with a son who took over the passion and did better, career-wise.

Does anyone know of any examples?

john_a5
Not sure I have run across too many. I love Paul Caponigro's work, not so much John Paul's and other than the Weston's, none come to mind.

hugh_j.
Sam Abell got his start with his father who was an amateur photographer and a schoolteacher. William Eggleston, likewise, except his father figure was his maternal grandfather, a judge and amateur photographer, who took over raising the boy after the father died during WWII. I'm sure there are many others but those two spring to my mind.
