keerthi
Hello Everybody!
A gallery of great pics already this week.First off ,thanks to Joseph Leotta,Ian Rance,Richard Karash and lil Judd for their kind comments on my post last week.Lil,it indeed takes a lot of effort to view and comment positively on every pic that is posted.Hats off!For your indulgence.
My contribution this week was shot in a restaurant, the manneqin was illuminated by two incandescent lights from either side, which cast distracting shadows on the wall.To kill the shadows,I used the pop up flash and the result.....

ofey_kalakar
Rick Dohme, that little guy and 10 of his/her buddies were happily snacking on our grapes yesterday night. For this

Nikon WedNEsDAy PiC #38

I am sharing an "old-school" picture I took in a part of the city that has lots and lots of character. It's in a touristy area, but always eclectic and rather down to earth. It has a mixed crowd of faces similar to what "Hell Kitchen" in NYC had when it was home to the multitude of cultures years ago. I like this picture because it grabs the spontaneity of the characters in the scene and how the little girl in her stroller is so captivated by the music and the coordinated movements of the dancer to the bongo beat of the performers.

raaj
Hi Everyone,
I shot this one at a local parade (Caribana in Toronto, for those who are familiar with it). Great event to shoot for the color and costumes. It was a very hot and sunny day. I was just about to call it quits after 3 hours in the sun when I caught this youngster peeking out of the back of a truck. The

P.S. Thank You Louis A., Joseph L., Ian R., Richard K. and Lil J. for your comments on my photo last week. They mean a great deal to a beginner.

I'm going to hold off my comments on this weeks photos till everyone has posted.

Cheers

jannekaakinen
Just lovely, folks! :)

My photo for this week was taken on Tuesday morning from a moving train through somewhat dirty window. The morning was one of those beautiful early autumn mornings, the fields were covered with mist and the sun was rising above forest line in the distance. I thought of PP'ing the fuzzy diagonal line out, but decided to keep it anyway, I kinda like the added imperfection that the line brings to the image. Also, in this case I think the dirty window added something special to the picture. The picture is almost SOOC-jpg, just a slight crop, resize and a touch of sharpening was added, the colors are as they were captured by my D50.

steve_lyon1
First let me say "Thank You!" to those who commented on my photo last week. It really is a motivation to do better in the future.
This weeks photo was taken at Snoqualmie Falls, about 40 miles East of Seattle. It's on the Snoqualmie river and falls more than 260 feet. There has been an operating hydro-electric plant there since the 1890's. It is one of Washington State's most popular scenic attractions. You might know it from the US TV series of the early 1990's, Twin Peaks.
Being in vacation mode, had harsh early afternoon sun which gave too big a dynamic range to deal with. I think this BW conversion (done in Lightroom) perhaps gives a good sense of what it "felt like" to be there.

Matt Laur
Late to the party, today. 'Tis the season for me to be out photographing bird dogs working in the field. I spent Sunday morning with this Vizsla (a Hungarian pointing breed) and her owner/trainer. In the shade along a tree line, I was preparing to get the trainer's warm embrace of her dog as the it obediently made the commanded bee-line for her from the cover. Half way to her, the dog caught a trace of quail scent to her left, and slammed on the brakes. The trainer, who was expecting a the dog to come to her no matter what, issued some salty language. But hunting dogs have their own priorities, some days.

bmm
My image this week is a favourite from a trip last year to China. To me it represents the fun of getting lost in Shanghai, seeing all the crazy little alleys, stifling susty summer heat, and life 'off the beaten path'. I finally got around to post-processing it over the weekend.

mt4x4
My contribution this week is from the Top Truck competition in Bozeman last weekend. Top Truck is an off-road competition with obstacle courses, mud pits, etc. I had to rent a 18-70 f/3.5-4.5 because I didn't have anything wide enough to cover the event. I was actually pretty impressed with the lens for what it is. The photo below is from the Rock Crawl.

Nikon D200 18-70 f/3.5-4.5
