stephen_asprey2 Posted August 9, 2009 Share Posted August 9, 2009
Even if you have no religion, you hope that maybe there is a God up there to care for the souls of the fallen. Beautiful pictures and so respectfully done. War is the ultimate abomination and, coming from a country with a population less than the size of California we feel the wounds of those who did not come home very deeply indeed.
In the ode, "For the Fallen", our sacred rite is written, and said many times at Anzac Day here and around the world. It applies equally to all our brave allies who lost their lives in order that we shall be free of tyranny:

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

john grunke Posted August 10, 2009 Share Posted August 10, 2009
Yes! the world is indeed full of wonderful people.
And yet, occasionally we encounter someone who is simply "Kind", enough to grant you such a vantage point.
This kind gentleman deserves kudos for his kindness as you for your tech expertise.
"PAY IT FORWARD"
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
craig_gillette Posted August 10, 2009 Share Posted August 10, 2009
I've had the opportunity to visit a number of the US military cemeteries in several countries and areas of the world. These pictures are very well done and do the somber subject justice.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
mlackey Posted August 10, 2009 Share Posted August 10, 2009
Mike: Wonderful photographs and a great story. I have a suggestion. If it is possible you should mail a print of one of your photographs to the manager that gave you the key to the bell tower. As a way of saying thanks.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
