mike_hawley
Hi, I've just traded up from a 28-90 mm to a 28-105mm USM and generally the results are good. However I find that the lens will often hunt for focus - and keep hunting for 10 + seconds. Have switched to manual focus in desperation. Didn't happen with the 28-90, nor with my 70-300, 50mm 1.8, or the kit lens. Is the lens faulty? or the camera (350D) ? Is there a simple cost free cure?
Cheers
Mike

mark_ethridge
I used one for a couple of years (and still have it somewhere) and I never had trouble with mine, either.
PuppyDigs
Heck my old EF 28-105 3.5-4.5 USM focused better than my EF 35 2.0 and 50 1.4 USM in any light. It rarely hunted even in dim conditions, assuming you locked it on to a point of contrast and not something like a featureless white wall.

I'd do the obvious before returning to the dealer: clean the lens contacts and make sure you're not in friggen AI Servo.
Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. Other times I can barely see. - Robert Hunter
