A typical hood, tailor made for the lens, will attach with "bayonet" connection on the side of the barrel, leaving the filter threads available.</p> <p>Some third party collapsible-rubber style hoods screw into the len's filter threads (I have a few of those), but even these usually have threads so you could put add a filter on front of them.
