Some great shots again, as usual. Hesse, I loved yours - so narrative and well-composed!Tom (I think) I also really liked the colors of your photo.

Just wanted to mention some of my favorites in no particular order:
Jose- It just brings the drama of religious iconography to the forefront
Rene- The Cherry blossoms lit just adds some romanticism
Hector- Love the birds
Ian- It just takes me back (I love and teach history)
Richard- Love the beach scene. The promise of things to come
Hasse- Like the set up and the sun b/w the children
Scott- The desert landscape looks like it should hang in my classroom
Stanley- love the shot of the tourist sitting outside the left entrance to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. I go here regularly for photos.
Everyone else there are just so many good photos. Keep it up. It pushes me to do better.

Another fantastic Wednesday thread! Thank you, Jose Rivera and Jose Angel for the comments. There are many great images this week. Thank you, Hamish, for providing your HDR explanation. I have been playing with bracketing for this on my D300, but I have to add a plug-in to Aperture(HydraHDR) to do it.
I'm really impressed with Rene's son, Hideyuki's enthusiasm and the quality of his work...I see some serious photography in his future. He has a talented mentor which is always a pleasure to see.
Excellent landscapes again, Matthew and Gary!
I love Bruce's amusement park neon shots!
Chris's dragonfly just blows me away!
Doug's chair is a favorite because I love the woodwork as well as the photo...excellent!
Paul B., your flute player is magnificent!
Very nice shot of Red Rock, Scott! What an amazing place to explore with a camera. I'm looking forward to my next trip.
Kent's form 1040 is depressing:-)...but, hey it's Thursday, so that's over for another year!
Thanks again Jose for hosting this amazing thread!
Great work, everyone! Looking forward to next week!
Have a great week!
Dick

Sorry I am late to the party. I was out of town and didn't have computer access. This is from Saturday - a baby gator in a Louisiana marsh. D 300. Nikkor 18-70. ISO 250. f7.1-1/200. Cropped and adjusted in CS3.

00T5IG-125509584.jpg.9a2b4219b74feaff9300072ceaa014f2.jpg

Thanks to all who commented on my photo and showed an interest in what I'd done. I think HDRs are great fun as long as they don't look like cartoon pictures, although sometimes it's hard to find the balance. Anyway, for a picture as small as the ones we post here, Dan South was probably right that a single exposure would have sufficed, but in terms of viewing on my screen I couldn't live with the noise in the shadows that resulted from PP on a single shot and therefore covered my back by doing it as a HDR :-).
Thanks again to Jose Angel for the thread. It's something to look forward to in the middle of the week. And again you have posted a beautiful thematic picture.
Richard I love your landscapes. Last weeks was particularly spectacular and the lake this week with the ice in the distance is also a winner. I love the color tones you manage to get out of your shots. So vibrant!
I also really like Hasse's shot this week. It was really beautiful.
Dieter, your tree is striking. Your work, at least the little I have been witness to here on the wednesday threads, is truely remarkable.
René and young Hideyuki, I love your pictures. Hideyuki you have a real talent and I hope you pursue it :-)
I could go on forever, but there are really too many comments to be made. Have a great weekend folks!
Hamish.

Great thread & I'm not sure if I still may post or not. It's Thursday after all...... :-(

I didn't have a chance to post yesterday because of a power outage which lasted for about 22 hours. No fun to deal with a pitch black home with no one else at home. Andrea has rehearsals & Ross is working late on his TV show. So - until I'm sure I may still post - Shun? or Lex ? - - please let me know.... I'll pass on posting.
Great thread as always. Many wonderful shots which I love.
Hideyuki - of course I asked how you are. That's what a mother does - - worries & cares for children. And I am a mother above all. :-) Anyhow - another great entry for you & I will miss your entries for the next few weeks.
Anyhow - great shots everybody. I love all the scenic & Nature shots, wildlife & portraits.
Did I miss anything? ;-)
Lil :-)

OK jf - so to post....... to choose.......
Problem is - I've not gone through & processed much of what I've shot - partially due to the lack of electricity... So I'm simply posting a fun shot from the L.A. Zoo of the Meerkats. Shot with the D700 & the 300mm AF-S f/4 EXIFs as always embedded.
Hope you'll all enjoy & great thread again guys & gals...

Just some feedback: Alex Foto, difficult to put into words, but I really like your picture. I'm a fan of rectangles and straight lines and your image is particularly intriguing.
Dan Park, I like the flamingo with the two ghostly pink heron heads! That's how I read your picture anyway.
As always there are too many lovely images to comment on each individually, but some stand outs for me were Jeff Lipsman's really sharp horse (If I had any money at the moment I would buy the 70-200 f2.8; it's exactly what I need for sports pictures.), I like Peter K's twisted duck, as usual the great images of Gary McGhee, Hamish Gray, Jose Angel, Rene' Villela, Pedro Cardoso, Richard Armstrong, Hasse Linden, Ilkka Nissila, Chris Court's dragon flies, Simon Marshall's Roman soldier... I too am impressed by the chair and the photo of the chair. I like Dieter Schaefer's fisheye shot though may have been tempted to crop the ground. Lots of other great pictures; each time I scroll through I see another 10 I'd like to comment on.
Ian, thanks for the info on Darknor.

No problem, Lil. So far we're not planning to shut down the threads on any particular deadline. At the moment it's taking 90-120 seconds to load these threads on my old PC with DSL. If it begins to take more than a few minutes we might re-evaluate the photo submission window. But I'd rather not do that since not everyone has time to post on a specific day (Wednesday or any other) and not everyone even checks photo.net every day.
