jose_angel
From the Holy Week, before leaving the temple the image of dead Christ waits for the brotherhood. Taken with a D700 @ 1600ISO, 14-24/2.8AFS, 1/60sec - f2.8, 14bit RAW, all camera tricks off. It`s a slight crop from the original image (at 14mm I always feel that I`m never close enough to the subject!). The pic looks to have a bit of motion blur, it was a bit difficult to get...
Please feel free to post your pic, taken with Nikon gear (... and please check the file size before posting!).

hamish_gray
I know everyone is pretty much tired of winter now and ready to move on to spring, so I apologize in advance, but the trouble is I haven’t really taken any shots in the last week that don’t have snow in them!

This week’s picture is taken on Monday, the last day of our Easter vacation, at about 600m above sea level. It is a 5 frame, handheld HDR with shutter speeds ranging from 1/250 to 1/4000 as it was impossible to expose correctly on my wife and son with one shot and still keep the cloud and snow detail. I was impressed that they managed to stand so still in the wind :-)

D300 with 12-24 @ 24mm ISO 200, f5.6.

jose_rivera9
Jose, very powerful image. The scene adds for those of us who believe and worship. My photo is of St. Patricks Cathedral in NYC.
I was "lost" trying to get out of the Rockefeller Center's underground and exited behind the Sculpture of Atlas. I believe this time of night is called the "Magic Hour" Shot handheld
D300 Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 Shot @ 20mm ISO 500 F/4 exp. 1/6 with Active D-Lighting. some minor noise adjustment using NX2

jose_rivera9
Hamish, your shots makes me think of a postcard or advertisement. HDR handheld is impressive. You really can't tell. What software do you use for HDR?
Matthew Brennan
Jose Angel, great original take - quite dramatic and slightly disturbing perspective. I'm not into religious iconography but this caught my attention fast. Hamish, a good photo snow or no snow is always worth viewing. Jose Rivera - Lovely lighting and well placed subject matter.

I'm missing my fav. holiday location - New Zealand - beam me back there Scotty.......

D700 + Sigma 14mm AF f//3.5 and lots of elevation.......

hamish_gray
Thanks Jose. Your photo is beautiful and 1/6s is also impressive handheld. I don't see any motion blur!

I used CS4 to layer mine and then I used the local adaption feature to reduce the "cartoon" effect.

Nice Matthew! I'm from New Zealand (left back in 1985). It's now five years since I was last there so I'm loving your photos!
andy_chubb
Missed you guys while we were off last week in sunny Devon. Here is a shot from last Friday evening down there - just at dusk, WB at tungsten, couple of CTO SB-600s to camera right, flash on slow rear, D80, 24-70, shrunk in CS2 - otherwise no mods. A small tribute to 'The Hot Shoe Diaries'.

shawn_mcfarlane
Jose Angel, that's quite a powerful image.

Mine for this week is taken in The Burren, County Clare, Ireland. I spent the weekend there with my wife taking alot of shots as the weather was great. This is my favourite image out of what I have processed so far, one of the beautiful stone walls.
D80 + 17-55mm @ 20mm, f7.1, 1/250 , iso100. hector_andrade
Nice shots guys. Jose Angel, where in the world are you? I assume it is Spain, but where? In Guatemala we have the same kind of parades. Very impressive shot but I missed your brown colors from your previous 2 posts. I wanted to ask, how do you get those brown tones? Matthew, you and the Lord of the Rings are the best New Zealand advertisers...
Here goes my picture. The weather was really bad during the whole Eastern so could not do as Hamish and go for a ski trip. Instead I went to the beach for a walk and found these two guys. I chased them a bit as I was trying to get closer until they flew away. Hope you enjoy.

Ian Rance
There seems to be a real selection this week - some great work (as usual). Matthew, I would love to visit NZ, but like BA from the A-Team, I am terrible with air travel.

For my photo this week I tried a little B&W conversion. I know it is not the best job, but it is fun. This was taken at a place alled Darknor and truth be told it is the first time I have ever felt afraid of a place in the daylight. There was a fog and a strange silence. No-one to speak to and chasms with no visible end. There were crows jumping amongst the rocks and I felt that I was at a set for Lord Of the Rings or something similar. Sometimes I felt like running but instead I took photos.

Rene11664880918
Oh! Is it WeDNeSDaY already????
I can't comment on Jose's & Hamish's shots coz I can't see them yet but I'm sure they are great..... The rest..... well.... So far for what I see it seems it will be another great thread!

So.... Here is my humble contribution for this week. I hope it is good enough coz every week the standards get higher...
This was taken on Sunday at The Takada Koen in Jouetsu city, Niigata Prefecture, Japan. It is one of the 3 most famous parks in Japan in relation to the famous cherry blossoms.
Uhmm! It was a great day until my son decided to break my AF 35 f/2. But even then, it was a great evening.
By the way, next week I'll be posting my shot from the UK and the week after from Italy.... YEAH! I wonder what they will be... a birds? Big Ben? The Pisa Tower? Will see....
So for now lets enjoy everybody's work!

alastair_anderson
Good work, everyone. My favourite so far is the Darknor shot. Where is Darknor? UK presumably, but it looks like it could be in ancient Greece!
Here's a spring shot. I eagerly await the blooming of this plant every April, just down the road from where I live on the way to the shops.

eric_arnold
rene, i think that's one of your best shots to date--love the contrast between the pagoda and the trees on the other side. my contribution this week is modest--a candid shot of a local waitress. nothing more, nothing less.

chriscourt
My first posting to this thread...

Well, I didn't shoot it this week, however I did download the component images (yes, I'm a little behind - just 8,000 shots to bring into Lightroom now!) and PP it in Photoshop over the weekend. Hope that counts!

D300, 105mm VR, tripod mounted, 1/1250 sec at f11, ISO 800
