david_lyga
Please tell me which is better to store Phenidone A: either in water with sodium metabisulfite or in 91% isopropyl alcohol. Does it really matter? Thanks. - David Lyga.
User_502260
When I mixed up PC-TEA the phenidone had to dissolve on standing. Once in the TEA it might last forever. What developer are you making when you store it in either of these?
david_lyga
Only the metol / ascorbic acid one. Substituting the Phenidone A for metol.
john_stockdale2
I have tried 90% ethyl alcohol (the sort we drink) and it was a dismal failure. I have read that the presence of some water in alcohol is very difficult to avoid.
jay_de_fehr
David,

propylene glycol is a better option than either water or alcohol. When I was eperimenting with developer formulation on a regular basis I kept stock solutions of the agents I used most often, and it made my work far more consitent and convenient than weighing out dry chems for every test batch I made. Once I set up for it, I was able to compound and test several variations on a given theme in a night's work. Phenidone and ascorbates seem unusually unstable in aqueous solutions, but last forever in glycol.
