missy_kay
Does anyone know websites besides ebay that sell refurbished or used 5d's?
luis_g
It's better to get one that has already had the mirror re-glued. Try KEH.

JDMvW
Don't buy from any retail operation without checking resellerratings.com .

Only if you are an experienced eBayer would I recommend eBay, though I have bought many cameras there. The major stores sell for decent prices used and give at least a short warranty. Compare Adorama, B&H, and other resellerratings rated stores and you will find the prices are pretty close to going prices on completed eBay sales.

I just bought a like-new 5D on eBay and additional items of a kit privately from a well-rated seller. The vendor is actually an officer in one of the Leica organizations, and apparently only drove the 5D on Sundays. ;)

I saved about $300-400+ on the whole kit, and in the scale of things, that small a savings may not be worth the risk to you, especially as I have no warranty on the camera, lens, and flash.
hjoseph7
If you purchase it off eBay I doubt if the seller will give you an extended, or any other type of warranty. Something to think about when you are buying used and laying out a pretty substantial amount of dough.
john_hanlon3
Hello Kay,
This is your best bet:

http://www.adorama.com/ICA5DR.html?searchinfo=canon%20refurbished&item_no=46

I've bought several Canon refurbished items from Adorama. The were like new and have given me no problems. I'd steer clear of ebay.

photo_dark
Ebay, Kijiji is good too. I'm actually pretty excited to pick up a regular 5D. I finally have my 5DmkII and my old 40D for sports/action stuff... but i'd love to have a regular 5D now as a backup. I'm (re) hooked on full frame....

Obviously i haven't picked up my old Pentax ME, looked through the viewfinder and had that "oh yea!" moment enough lately :)
