Got Scans Back from Lab

I got my scans back form my local lab tempe camera here in arizona and im wondereing about the scans i got. The

file sizes are small like 600kb- 1.2mb and the resolution is 1818x1228 and im not impressed by the image quality.

The scans i geet from costco are 4-5mb and larger resolution. Are the scans i got from the lab how the should be?

Sounds like you got low resolution scans. How large do you want to print them?

When I get scans at Walgreens they come back about 1 mb file size. They make decent 4x6 prints ... I haven't gone any larger.

 

If the scans are what they should be depends on what you paid for. Did you ask for, or did they offer high or medium resolution scans?

 

There has been some talk on this forum about Costco's 2000x3000 scans. I think it is a good value for $2.99 per roll. (of course the costco membership costs $50 per year)

I used to live in Apache Junction and used Tempe Camera all the time when I was there. You need to ask for High Rez scans it cost a few bucks more but they are much better. I moved out in 2003 but they were always the best in the Valley when I was there.

I've used Digmypics in Mesa, http://www.digmypics.com/scanning_services.asp had the choice of several scan levels and been satisfied with the results.

Charles where are they located in Mesa? Do you remember the old AGFA Photo on Gilbert and University?

Never mind about the location I looked them up from your link.. right down town on the Red Line route.

Yup i guess its my fault after i look on there web site it lists there standard scans can make a 4x6 print but 9 dollars seems like alot for those scans doesn't it?

Yup it does. If you want that size it is 2 bucks at Wallgreens. 9 bucks for a High scan is though pretty good I was paying 15 until I figured I could do it my self LOL. But I get High Rez from a local place here for 8 bucks.
