ajrobertson
I shoot in Raw, and export final copies for printing in tiff. Is this the best format for printing? I can;t even find a way to save as jpg format in photoshop 4
geoffs1
If you are working in 16-bit (as you should with raw-images), you need to convert to 8-bit before PS will allow you to save as JPEG (an 8-bit format).

These days I've been using a lightly compressed JPEG (ex. 11 on Photoshop's scale) for printing, but TIFF is also good, and widely accepted.

KenPapai
PS 4 never supported (nor knew) was raw files were.

Maybe you mean PS 11 (i.e., CS4)?
But yes, edit in ACR 5.x (CS4's raw editor), then open, change file "type" to 8-bits before saving as very high quality JPG (level 10 or higher, with '12' being virtually, almost lossless compressed).
