Anthony, I've ordered two cameras from them. I'd say their customer service is excellent. One time it was a camera that was a brand new model. They were expecting a shipment the next day. They said they'd call me to let me know when the shipment came in and then send the camera out. The shipment came in, they called me, then sent it out, just as they promised.

I had made a purchase, changed my mind before it had shipped, and they cancelled the order without any problems. I had also made a

previous purchase and it was a very smooth transaction. I'm completely satisfied with 17th Street Photo.

Hi, I've ordered from them and got the best Child pornography ever!

Here's my point...anyone can have a Photo.net ID and post great comments about anyone!

GO up to bbb.org
Epinions.com
Google 17th street photo or whatever and add "complaints" to the search string.
Look around.
I have personally been burned by "WORD OF MOUTH" advertising. Many folks have had a good experience. BUT, when things go bad, that's the true test of a retailer. In other words, if you get a pile of rubble and the retailer insists that you have to pay a 15% restocking fee (for example: NewEgg.com) plus shipping and handling (30$), then you have to go by your own experiences.
Just saying.

I bought my first Nikon FE2 camera from them years ago. As far as I know, they are still a pretty reputable firm, but not as big as Adorama or B&H of course. The reason why they call themselves 17th Street Photo, is because of their location which is a good walking distance away from most of the major Photography retailers who are mostly concentrated around 34th to 38th Street, between 5th & 6th avenues in NYC.
