Using the Canon CP-E4 External Battery Pack (or others)

I just purchased the Canon CP-E4, and read through its brief instructions. It

stated that the protective pouch should be removed before using the battery

pack. Is this because of a risk of overheating? The pouch is nice and seems like

it would be an ideal way to carry the pack while using it (ie, attaching the

pouch to a belt). Does anyone have advice or experience with this?

Thanks,

Nate

I always use the pouch. The unit gets warm after some rapid-fire shooting but cools down rather quickly. I didn't even know that you are supposed to remove the unit from the pouch for use - as it turns out reading instructions can be beneficially dangerous...

Odd advice from Canon, as the case seems so well designed to hold the battery pack while you're shooting. It even has a special opening at the bottom so you can quickly change the battery magazine without having to take it out of the case, or off your belt. I've never had an overheating problem with my CP-E3, even after shooting enough that I had to swap batteries.
