leon_f
Please see the attached scan of a print. You notice the sort of white stuff on the bottom of the picture? Did I do something wrong while agitating the film?
michael_darnton1
Looks like overagitation, combined with too much inversion and not enough twisting.
david_dorcich1
Is the problem only on that frame, or the entire roll? If it is a problem with your agitation technique, you should see similar problem though out the entire roll, not just one frame.
lex_jenkins
Could be fogging, could be surging marks from agitation. Do you see any evidence elsewhere of fogging? Checked the camera for the usual suspects? (Gummy light seals, debris jammed in the film door area, etc.) What type of reels do you use? Plastic reels tend to contribute more to surging than do stainless, so they require somewhat greater care with inversion agitation.
blarg_.
check this link out...towards the bottom where he talks about surging marks...turned out that re-fixing in fresh fixer solved most of the problem...might not be the same thing here, but worth trying. http://merecat.org/photo/darkroom/
leon_f
Thanks to all so far. I also think this has either to do with wrong agitation or fogged paper. Tonight I will scan the negatives and see if this is actually visible on the negs. too. If not, I need to shop for a few boxes of fresh paper. Will report back asap. leon_f
Ok, I just found out that there is a sort black line along the whole length of the film below, just over the little holes..... . Can we conclude wrong agitation?
leon_f
And can I still solve it?
blarg_.
sounds more like you needed a bit more developer and the level in the tank was too low.
frank.schifano
No you can't. If it is a black line on the film, then the problem is not agitation. Black is density and only exposure and development make density. That sure sounds like fogged film to me. How it happened is anybody's guess, but I'd start with a very close look at how I handled the film prior to processing. Look for light leaks everywhere along the chain.
