elmar001
Well, I did it! Thanks to all that offered advice and encouragement. My first 120 film ever, and my first film processing in about 40 years. I had a few glitches. I was surprise the pre-soak water was purple when it poured out. At first I thought my tank turned water into wine, but now I think there must have been purple ink on the film tape. Also on the first roll I loaded, there was some touching together at the outer end. But the second roll was in the spiral ok. I will be careful next time to feed in slowly. Thanks everyone for your help. I probably will need more as I go. Lawrence

doug grosjean
The purple pre-soak water is pretty normal. I scrunched some of the first negs I did, too. Welcome to the club!
jordan_w.
The purple colour comes from the anti-halation dye that is added to the film to prevent highlight "blooms". It's totally normal for it to come out during processing.
dave_wilson1
Good deal! Wait till you load t-max, similar to sheet metal, could they have made a thicker film? I remember a roll of landscapes on Verichrome I made that I was really looking foward to, and I crinkled the film and misloaded the reel. Luckily I salvaged a few good prints. Tis is the joy of photography.
lex_jenkins
Try Efke in Rodinal. Bright stinkin' aquamarine effluent! It's like, wow, so trippy, dude. What film and developer, Lawrence?
