mark_olwick
Microsoft has released a free Outlook plug-in to help photographers remember which equipment to bring to photo shoots they've scheduled with the calendar and contacts software. The free plug-in, called Pro Photo Shoot, lets photographers create a list of their photographic equipment and then use a check-box list to pick what's needed for a particular appointment. Outlook produces a sorted list. More here: http://www.news.com/8301-13580_3-9839393-39.html
phule
Too bad they couldn't, you know, fix all the gaping and glaring security holes. Sorry...that was too easy.
don_cooper
WOW! Something original from MS. (Not sorry)
tony_leinster
Pre-empted by God inventing bits of paper and the pencil. Sorry but not everything needs the micro soft touch!!!!
mark_jordan3
I wanted to try it out of curiosity, but kept getting installation errors with Outlook 2003.
philg
Too bad they couldn't make Windows Vista able to show RAW images either... (something that they more or less had accomplished with XP, via a plug-in)
jesse_starks
I'm not knocking Microsoft (since I'm using a PC with their operating system) and it could be a handy tool. My brain however still functions well enough for me to know what I need for a shoot. Again it could be a handy tool, but just not for me (yet!). eduardphoto
Philip, I'm one of the engineers who implemented the imaging features in Windows Vista, and I'd like to kow more about the issues you are facing with getting RAW files to display. Vista *is* actually able to show RAW images. The first time you try to open a RAW file, Windows will take you to a page from which you'd be able to install the proper codec from the camera's manufacturer. If this doesn't work for you, please shoot me an email - I'd like to know more about this failure.
rick_rothwell
I just downloaded the MS app for viewing RAW files in WinXP, the same utility as in Vista. Loaded the RAW CODEC from Nikon and it works fine for my D80 files. Wish the tool had a few more views, but it's a nice step for us old XP users.
