kbg32
I am trying to remember the name of a photographer a book that she did circa late 1970's, early1980s(?). The photographer had set up a small studio around Times Square and photographed people working in the porn industry. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! ellis_vener_photography
I think you are thinking of Ellen Steinberg ,who has worked in the porn industry for a long time. Her stage name is/was Annie Sprinkle and ofr awhile she also worked as a photographer too. Susan Meiselas did a book on carnival strippers in the mid to late 1970s. Are you any relation to Al? kbg32
The woman that I am thinking of has an Italian last name if I am not mistaken. I think it began with a "B". No relation. Goldstein is like Smith or Jones.
jgalyon
I got my ass paddled in 6th grade for whispering Mr.Morebutts name and book title to a cute little blonde headed girl named Sherry...who snitched on me to our teacher, Ms.Howard. All involved are either retired or nearing it...but Mr.Morebutts continues a long and successful career. He and his work is ageless. It's as though he has drank from the fountain of youth. What a writer! What a man!

JDMvW
Our local Barnes and Noble has a book that is quite recent with portraits of porn stars XXX: 30 Porn-Star Portraits by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, Simon Dumenco (Editor), Jordan Schaps (Photographer), Gore Vidal (Introduction) Of course, I was only looking at it for sociological information. I think Seymour Butz did the index.

kbg32
I went to school - college - with Annie Sprinkle. The book I am thinking of was done before Annie Sprinkle was known. I can remember all the details of this woman's images - she shot all the portraits with a medium format camera, and her studio space was a teeny room that had great available light. I guess the time frame is closer to mid 1970s. American Photographer magazine did a feature on her I believe.
