The Rating Function

I tried the "rate photos" function for an extended period. My goodness is it

boring! Maybe my photo tastes are sophisticated, but I tend to rate one photo

out of 30. The facility is slow, the photos mostly boring, without a real visual

content.

I prefer to pick them out of other PN areas, seeing many of them and picking the

ones that strike me positively. No wonder that lots of people just throw in 3/3

ratings.

Luca, some people I think see rating photos as some sort of full time job. And they feel they have to give a rate no matter what. I wish everyone would do as you do and just rate the type they have some sincere interest in, rather than lobbing a 3/3 on all the ones that don't appeal.

I prefer the critique forum--it has the feel of a leisurely (thank you spell-check) stroll through a gallery, contemplating interesting work. What I don't like, I pass in silence.
