james_cooke
Something weird has been happening the past couple of days when I try to view the site. The Ad that I think is supposed to be at the top of the page as you see it on the list of threads appears down lower when I view a thread, covering peoples postings or photos. Anyone else having this problem? Its only started in the past couple of days.
HarryBaker
Yes, I'm having the same problem. In fact, I think the adverts are becoming all too intrusive
ellis_vener_photography
I had that problem yesterday as well. I'm using the Firefox browser. Turning the browser off and then back on to clear the cache solved the problem.
joshroot
Harry, logged in you should not be seeing the ad at the top of the page. James, can you try Ellis's suggestion. And also try looking at the page on a different browser. I am having trouble replicating the problem.
joshroot
James, I have replicated the problem. I'll have someone look into it. For now, you might try increasing the resolution of your screen or size of your browser window. As this only seems to happen with small window sizes. joshroot
Should be fixed now. You might have to restart your browser (or hit shift-reload) to get the newest version of the page.
james_cooke
Yes that seems to have cured the problem. Thanks thats quick service! I use firefox also. The side ad to the right still covers pics like the first castle photo in the Kobalux thread below but at least I can read all the texts now. Thanks
joshroot
If people use the <IMG SRC> tag to insert an image that is larger than the formatting can handle, it will bleed over the edge of the page. This is more a function of people inserting too-large images (or the threads being viewed on a too small screen) than it is any problem with the ads. That having been said, I'm hoping to get a "maximum size" limit put in there for HTML inserted images.
robin_barnes
I too have had this problem (iMac with Safari browser). However what Ellis did has also worked for me. Something else while I am here. This forum does not appear in the drop-down forum list nor on the "All Forums" page - is this intentional?
joshroot
The short answer about why this forum is not listed more obviously is that when it is, the forum gets used for questions that should be solved in other ways. If you think that we see a lot of the same posts over and over, you should have seen it when everybody knew about the feedback forum. <ul> <li>"How do I upload a photo" <li>"How do I change my password" <li>"Why isn't my camera selling in the classifieds" <li>"I want to buy an image from a photo.net photographer" <li>"Someone took a photo of me in Las Vegas, how do I get a copy of it?" </ul><P> And so on. These (and all others like them) are questions that should be asked via the "contact photo.net" link that is at the bottom of every page. The feedback forum should be used by more knowledgeable people to post more serious site issues or discussion. Most everyone who has been active on the site for a while is aware of the Feedback Forum and we hope that by the time they need to use it, they are past most of the basic questions.
