Repairing Minox B at DAG - who`s done this?

I have a well used and documented

(historical - bought from and once used by a well known author/Ex- KGB/CIA

operative - now living in Southern California)

Black Chrome/Paint very early 1958 Minox B serial #607 xxx that needs shutter

work, lens check and new lattice meter

I was told the BEST (if not only?) place left in the states to get this work

done is at DAG Camera parts

Has anyone gotten their Minox B overhauled there?

My Black B needs shutter work, lens check, viewfinder cleaned or replaced and

the light meter repaired, I want to get the camera up to snuff (working and

mechanically sound) without disturbing the "patina" of the camera and the

history behind it

Was everyone satisfied with the work from DAG?

I have used both services, Minox Germany and DAG. DAG worked on a B type for me, it ate the shutter blade. Everyone knows this is the single most common ailment for a minox. The older they get the most prone they become. Well, until they get DAG'd. None of the cameras that I sent have ever failed since. Good luck.

I've had Don at DAG repair both a IIIs and a BL for me. Both came back working like new, and have behaved perfectly since. I believe that older Bs sometimes need to have the photocell replaced, but otherwise should be the same.

He's also extremely helpful and responsive. Highly recommended.

DAG repaired my B, C and IIIs. The IIIs just need routine cleaing and the C needed extensive electronics replacement... both were done perfectly. My B needed a new meter, DAG said he could do it, but never was able to get it right... why carry around a meter on your camera if it is off by more than a stop? I wasted a bunch of money and ended up with a camera in my shelf that I will never use. I was not happy with the lack of resolution to that. I sent it back 2 or 3 times. DAG should have just said he couldn't do the work correctly and not taken the job.
