dave_f2
I'm about to buy some Arista EDU Ultra 100 ISO and 400 ISO film. From what I've read in other threads this is currently rebranded Foma? I'm trying to figure out what would be a reliable developer for these films and what the advantages/disadvantages are to different developers. The answers vary greatly and I'm trying to find out what people's experiences are and maybe some samples. Thanks, Dave
alan_rockwood
According to my limited testing Rodinal gave poor film speed and poor dynamic range with this film. T-max developer gave good film speed and good dynamic range. This is based on instrument measurements of developed films, not on prints made from the films. wirehead
I use Rodinal and it is perceptually fine, but you do kinda lose a stop. I also use HC-110, which works fine and is finer grained. I'd be highly surprised if it wasn't rebranded Foma. Same blue base in 120 format. But I scan it, so my results may vary.
dave_f2
hi guys thanks for the responses, what kind of film do you guys use?
larrydressler
I shoot it at 100-200 in Diafine depending on the lighting when in doubt 100 even in diafine. I found it did real bad in D-76 almost soft focus looking. in Rodinol 1-150 60 minutes Simi Stand it is outstanding and the 200 in 120 is outstanding in Diafine at of all speeds 200 but that was the 120. Here are some of the foma 200 35mm in Rodinal 1-200 60 minutes simi-stand. http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=625132
raymond___k_osmotherly
Hi Dave Google "Freestyle Film Developing Chart Online" and this may answer your question. Ray
larrydressler
Raymond I have found so many ways that were never on charts but from people here and at nelsonfoto.com. Charts are a starting point.... People that have done it are the answer. Larry<div></div>
dave_f2
Hi Larry, I really like the texture of that picture you've posted and I've been seeing that kind of texture consistently with people we have used Rodinal so I guess I'll start out with that.
