Current Leica lens caps are terrible -- who else hates them and what are the alternatives?

I hate lens caps because you have to keep taking them off and putting them on again.....is there a more boring thing to do? To cap it all my new LX1 talks to me about lens caps....yes, really.

Try this for size...."remove lens cap and press-button", sunshine. Okay, I've got it, it thinks I'm stupid. Must be something to do with those million, or so, of Leica M users and their lens cap photos.

Point taken.

The later M lenses with built in hoods have caps that stay on fairly well. However the same

cap on a lens without a built in hood falls off easily as the cap is larger in diameter than

the lens. So an Leica E46 cap works a treat on a 50Asph but is easily lost if on a

35/1.4Asph.

So:

I use a generic E46 cap on the 35/1.4A. Works well. Tried the Contax E46 cap, though

better than the Leica, not as good as the generic one.

On E55 lenses, I use the old style Canon E55 cap. Best cap ever as a direct nuclear stike

won't knock it off but it is easy to remove.

I like the Leica slip-on caps for the E39 lenses. Seem to work fine.
