baerbel
It used to be song birds and mountain ranges, but now the top five photos are nudes. Not a complaint, just an observation. :)

baerbel
Who knows - but we should keep an open mind. They might very well go church every Sunday.

guyscrivner
Nudes are people too.
If you prick them, do they not bleed? if you tickle them, do they not laugh? if you poison them, do they not die?
William Shakespeare
ben conover
Good observation, and yes I do prefer nudes to songbirds and mountains. I love songbirdas and mountains but I love nudes more, it is about time people got used to themselves and others, on an ongoing basis. Nude photography does that quite well I think. I think mountains are great and valleys are cool too, but they pale in comparison to the individuality and inexhaustable genetic variations we see day to day. Let the mountains live on for us by not pollutiong them with your friggin Hummers, and let nudes live on for humanity. Cheers.
ricardo navarro
No problem with nudes at all. The trouble is their photographic quality often does not seem to justify such position in the TRP (or perhaps the current Nr 1 is a true gem?), so one is tempted to think that surges of testosterone have something to do with it ... bill_thorlin
Ben - how about a nude up a mountain under a tree with a songbird on the branch near her and no vehicles in sight while you play a violin and sup some liffey water ? Photography is a broad church.
gluteal cleft
The interesting bit for me is that the "top photo" has a fairly good history of ratings, averaging out to about 4.4 and 4.6 from registered members, and about that from anonymous members - yet in "top photos" shows up as a recent anonymous rating as 7.0 and 7.0. I don't usually pay attention to such things, but it would seem as if something fishy were going on here. ;-) steve
joe baker pine bush ny
i posted a photo of a nude with a song bird in a valley, it didn,t do so well in the rateings, maybe i should have cropped out the bird

grhegman
An obvious hijacking of the photo.net site by "jfd". A poor quality photo being the top rating for 4 days. What's up with this! If nudes are to be on the photo.net site, couldn't they be put in a separate section. I can't even show my wife and kids some excellent photography work on photo.net because I'm afraid what will pop-up.
bill_thorlin
Joe - you should have cropped out the valley and faked in a mountain and then tried :)

keith turrill
Perhaps a few of the users have just figured out that it is possible to do an anonymous rate recent by individual category. In that case, it might be possible to skew the statistics.
afs760bf
If you do it through "rate category," it's not supposed to count toward that view of the TRP.

joe baker pine bush ny
even the president of the united states must sometime stand naked. (Bob Dylan 1969)
joe baker pine bush ny
Thank god for the nudes;it shows how human and how beautiful we are and children should see the naked human body,it takes away the mysteries and taboos.
kathywilson
I'd rather catch my kid looking at a naked breast than watching someone hack one off with an axe. (to paraphrase Jack Nicholson) I've never understood why violence in just about any form is preferable to nudity of any variety. Art nudes are more about shape, light/shadow than gynecological detail. I'd just like to see some balance between female nudes and male nudes. Seems like the two largest sets in the nudity debate are those who hate it all, and those who have no problem with showing women in every pose imaginable, but get nauseous at the idea of a male nude. Good grief. And one final word - as a person who takes pictures of mountain ranges - hey, what's wrong with Nature!? ;)
baerbel
Nothing wrong with nudes whatsoever, female or male. As an artist I enjoy looking at all images, which show some creativity. One I could do without, however, would be the one mentioned by Joe on Feb 3. :)
