Hasselblad - non standardised filter threads
RobertChura replied to RaymondC's topic in Medium Format

You can buy adapters for Bayonet mounts for screw in filters but they need to be larger than the Bayonet to work properly.
-

How are you viewing this image? Is it a print or a computer image?
I regularly go to galleries and view prints before I make judgments because of the countless times I have seen reproductions that are vastly different than actual prints.

Why not change the color rendering in PS to suit your taste.
Another option is to do some work in PS and move to DPP or vice versa

Workflow options
RobertChura replied to hazy_l's topic in The Digital Darkroom: Process, Technique & Printing

This determines what settings are applied when you open the file to Photoshop from Bridge (Open Image).
Normally I change the depth to 16 bit because I want as much as possible to edit with and the space to Adobe 1998 then 300 pixels for printing. I also like to open as a smart object.
These are my options, yours might differ.
-

Here is the latest thread on tripods I found
http://www.photo.net/filters-bags-tripods-accessories-forum/00dY8y
I have used the Feisol 3301 for several years and had no issue but I just upgraded to the Manfrotto 055CXPRO4 mainly for the versatility.

I really like the Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 as well.
Another option is the Feisol. http://www.feisol.net/rapid-tripods-classic-tripods-c-1_12.html
At one time they were inexpensive. I have not had an issue with the 3301

Abandoned places without getting arrested?
RobertChura replied to steven_clark's topic in Beginner Questions

I have been in many places with and without permission. I prefer permission and most of the time it is difficult to get. A news photographer one time told me that it is easier to get forgiveness than permission.
I have been confronted by owners and police a few times. Most times I never see anyone. When confronted, I explain that I am taking pictures and not stealing anything.

I was once at an abandoned water treatment facility and when confronted by authorities, I was told it was still covered by homeland security and they had to call off the helicopters that were alerted and being sent. When we showed them our in camera images they were more relaxed. We were allowed to finish and if we wanted to return we had their info. At this plant they were using cameras connected to the web to catch thieves that had been taking metal and selling as scrap. They estimated $300,000+ had been previously stolen.

Only 1 time have I ever been confronted by an owner that did not like us being there. He demanded our film but he also said he would give permission if we had asked him first. Since then I have asked and he granted permission.
The main things a property owner is afraid of is theft or damage and lawsuits from you being injured on his property. I sympathize with the owners and have signed waivers for insurance in the past.

My advice is to NEVER break into any location. If there are no trespassing signs, respect them. Without these you have a lame but plausible excuse to enter an open door.
If caught, be calm and accept their wrath. In Texas there is a good chance they are armed. You would be upset as well if they were on your property.
Never take any souvenirs, this is theft.
And never go alone. I have had a friend fall through a floor and he needed assistance getting out.
-
17-40 ef usm lens - regular filter or slim filter
RobertChura replied to sanjay_chaudary's topic in Canon EOS Mount

I use a full frame digital camera (5D3) and found the slim filter worked best. I remove any other filter and just use the slim do avoid vignetting.
-

I use this http://www.amazon.com/RAVPower-FileHub-Wireless-External-File-Server/dp/B00AQUMZRA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1424371057&sr=8-4&keywords=external+hard+drive+with+sd+card+reader
It's not exactly direct but it works to load to my Ipad and then wherever. If you take a portable drive you can also download to it.

Redid my website - seeking honest feedback.
RobertChura replied to heather_fazelinia's topic in Wedding & Event

Well. I am not a wedding photographer but if I was looking for one I probably wouldn't choose yours only because I do not know where you are and you do not provide a phone number. I saw that I could email you and that probably is the new trend but I would rather talk to a prospective photographer.

I think the flash on the initial page is a little annoying and it shows nice images but once again nowhere is your name.

In your Bio, it seems I learned a lot about you personally but not a lot about your ability to photograph.
If possible I would make the music default to off.
I do like your images and it shows you have talent!
-

I have a friend that took a lensboard and modified it so he could use his point and shoot for similar reasons.
It soon became a novelty item. He only used it a few times as it became a bother and a distraction.

Need your help naming my new production company
RobertChura replied to memory_mill's topic in Business of Photography

How about Ziad Photography and Video?
It tells plainly what you are capable of doing. When people search the web they usually go with basics like your name (if they know or have a card) or what you do.
I personally like Ziad because it sounds different and unusual enough to spark an interest and easy to remember.
