fredus
I've developed my first roll of 120 film today. It was a roll ofNeopan 400. I've pre-wash the film as I do with 35mm and some reallypurple water came out of the tank. I was very surprise as the waterfrom a Neopan 35mm is clear ... What is on the film for the water tocome out purple ? Just curious ... Thanks ! Fred
goemon
That is the antihalation layer. I can't think of a good reason for it to be different in 120, but that is almost certainly going what it is.
john_stockdale2
No problem. It's just the way it is. Apparently the antihalation treatment is different- did you notice that after the whole process the base of the negatives was much clearer than the grey of the 35mm? profhlynnjones
Fred, you didn't see that in 35mm because there is no anti halation backing, the plastic base has neutral grey dye in the base. All other roll and sheet films have colored anti-halation backing. The color is always that which is the least sensitive color to the emulsion in question.
