jp_and_ap_the_glass_eye
I was looking at Adorama and B&H on the web. I don't see 35mm NPH! Any suggestions as to why? How does Fujicolor Superia 400 Color Negative Film compare to NPH? MY inlaws and outlaws have been in the-kids-getting-married mode for the last couple years and I expect it will continue (I hope). I've gotten some wonderful family portraits with NPH. Is it discontinued for 35mm?
Former P.N Member
It's not listed on Fuji's web site so I would guess it's not being produced any longer. <p> <a href="http://www.fujifilm.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/proPhotoProductsPortrait.jsp?NavBarId=item778801">http://www.fujifilm.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/proPhotoProductsPortrait.jsp?NavBarId=item778801</a> <p> - and - <p> <a href="http://www.fujifilm.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/Film35mmPrint.jsp">http://www.fujifilm.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/Film35mmPrint.jsp</a> <p> The spec sheet page also shows that it's been discontinued - <p> <a href="http://www.fujifilm.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/proPhotoProductsPortraitDataSpec.jsp">http://www.fujifilm.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/proPhotoProductsPortraitDataSpec.jsp</a> <p> Dick
Michael R Freeman
NPH has been "rebadged" as Pro 400H. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=396053&is=USA&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation Incidentally, I still see NPH 135-36 as IN STOCK at B&H. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=102340&is=USA&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation<div></div>
Ed_Ingold
Have you checked today? It seems to be in stock. B&H is closed a lot during October. You probably looked on an off day. Or (as Halloween approaches) film may be dying :) Have you noticed how many times this year B&H has been out of NPH, Reala and Velvia?
sergio_bienstock
It's being replaced by Fujicolor Pro 400H. For this film in particular, I believe this is mainly a name change. For the (slower) NPS 160 and NPC 160 films the new Fujicolor PRO line counterparts appear to offer some improvements (e.g. smaller RMS grain size and better digital scans). craig_shearman1
As for Superia, they're not comparable. NPH is a professional portrait film, which means that it has lower contrast and better gradation in skin tones than consumer films. Superia is a comparatively snappy, contrasty film -- fine for consumer snapshots, newspaper work and lots of general purpose use where snap and contrast is what you're looking for, but not my first choice for portraits. cliff_gallup
Apparently the replacement for NPH is the same except that it is designed to scan better.
stwrtertbsratbs5
If it scan better, then Fuji has changed the emulsion. And it is a welcome improvement! Robert
phule
<< The spec sheet page also shows that it's been discontinued - >> Richard, Then I'm guessing you missed the 3rd link where it says NPH 400 (Current Emulsion)?
